Adobe After effects Extensions

When it comes to installing extensions in after effects, you have two options. An automatic mode and a manual mode which both are detailed below.

Automatic mode

Adobe HTML Extension are usually shipped in ZXP format. Thus you need a ZXP installer to install it correctly on your machine.

We are currently working on our own ZXP installer which we will eventually post for free download.

How to install an extension in after effects (step by step guide)

  1. Locate your ZXP filed
  2. Drag and drop your ZXP file into the ZXP installer and let it do its magic.

Manual mode

Sometimes you need to manually install your Adobe HTML extension, thus you need to follow these steps:

On Windows:

  1. Locate your ZXP filed
  2. Rename your .zxp extension file to use .zip instead
  3. Unzip the file, you should get a folder. Rename it if desired
  4. Copy that folder into this path C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Adobe/CEP/extensions
  5. Restart After Effects
  6. Your extension should now show up in after effects under Window > Extensions

On Mac:

  1. Locate your ZXP filed.
  2. Rename your .zxp extension file to use .zip instead.
  3. Unzip the file, you should get a folder. Rename it if desired
  4. Copy that folder into ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions
  5. Restart After Effects
  6. Your extension should now show up in after effects under Window > Extensions
